The U.S. gov't has done many things that I don't approve of. As has every other gov't, I am sure.

And I agree that the "people" of the countires are generally not the enemies of the "people" of the U.S. However, at some point, the gov't actions are the responsibility of the people. I believe that this was used as the justification for the events of 9/11 as well.

I have seen a bunch of people bring up the argument that we shouldn't go into Iraq because it will cause more terrorist activities here in the U.S. You hint at that in your post as well. I mentioned it before, but I believe that the terrorist acts are *inevitable*. So it is best to have them happen on our schedule, not theirs. In other words, we force their hands. More and more, I believe that the true motivation for action in Iraq is to cause the terrorists to expose themselves. What do they call it in firefighting when they light a fire to put the fire out? Back burning? That's what I think we may be doing.

And as far as people preferring war over peace, think about it on an individual level. Haven't you ever seen a person with a victim personality keep themself in situations that allows them to be viewed as victims? You don't think that this behavior can apply to larger groups of people? I think it applies to *most* people. Most people like drama in their lives. Most people like to have enemies. And to see good and evil in others.
