Yes, even without knowing whether he was a real defector or working for Saddam, it was awful. At least it made the news - though I notice that CNN did not headline it properly. The mainstream media still lend an air of legitimacy to the UN that it has not deserved.

They should have said he was a scientist, wishing to talk and then saved him.

There may be another villain in this event besides the weapons inspectors.
