Bob, I too have been encouraged by the relative strength of the SOX and NASDAQ. Unfortunately technical analysis has to look backwards to predict the future and the future is always unknown. So I'm not sure we should read too much into it though because as has been stated here often the months of October to April are most likely to be the strongest for technology stocks.

This could account for the strength in the SOX and NASDAQ to date. If we see any acceleration of the recent slide in the SOX then it could really accelerate quickly as it becomes apparent that the neckline breakdown of the index was for real.

Of course there is no guarantee one way or the other. Short covering and stealth positioning may yet win the year although I suspect soon we will be awash in articles concerning how losses in January are highly predictive of losing years.

Hi Bob,
Thats why its important to get the iraq issue out of the way or the strength you see(me too) will long be gone. Market at best can go sideway for the next 30 days with this global overhang. Its important that the perpetual inspection solution of the french not win, if we want a return of the bull market anytime soon. I am not commenting here on the politics of it all and trying to stay on topic. Some of you folks might want to take a look at Fault Lines moderated political thread. He even has me under control. <ggg> mike
