when ever I have a similar problem it's due to my available system resources being under 10% ..or low batteries on my wireless keyboard

SE, keyboard problem: a friend once had a problem like this - a long delay between depressing a key and a response seen on a monitor. It turned out he had over a thousand corrupted files on his hard drive. Removing them fixed the keyboard problem.

I suggest doing a hard disk scan and defragment.
