In fact basic research methods in the social sciences especially in cases like this obviate any 'scientific proof' since one of the basic tenants of such is an observations 'repeatability'. One can also certainly have the opinion that the roaring 20's has various degrees of causation in the ensuing downturn and consider ones self in any number of 'schools of thought'. In fact I dont' think ANY econonomist would consider trying to claim the [20's, or in this case up till '99] preceeding boom had NOTHING to do with the downturn. DAK
