Funny though how most are written by those who have never done it themselves on a consistent basis.

Very true, except for Gary Smith "How I Trade for a Living", None of the guys that write trading books(to my knowledge) are 100% supported by their trading activities. And Gary Smith is fund trader. His trading records were placed on file with his publisher when he wrote his book. A lot of his gains were made during the bull, so hopefully he didn't get blown up the last few years.

Neither elliot or Gann amassed any great fortune that I know of. Prechter sells his advice for a living. I'd love to see his personal trading records. They probably suck...vbg...

And stay away from options unless you are into some of the more arcane strategies.

Good advice. Options stink unless you're selling them.
