because the US economy sucks and will continue to suck - in varying degrees - for some time. going to war now means there is nothing on the '04 election plate but the economy, and shrub will lose that just as surely as his father did. but look how effective the sabre rattling was in the midterm elections... imo we will soon be told by the white house that in the interests of international cooperation blah blah blah the inspectors will get the X extra months they would like to complete their mission. they'll get to look like good planetary citizens AND have the UN essentially give them political cover to drop bombs going into a presidential election. kissinger is in the house. -g/ng-
