Searle, One of the unfortunate things I am discovering about myself in my advanced years, is that I think I have accumulated some wisdom, not a lot, but some. And in keeping with the traditions throughout the history of man, the idea of passing on learned wisdom to future generations and in general, I have had things to say. Now, on reflection, I don't think I know enough to serve anyone under present conditions. What I have learned just doesn't seem apply anymore. what is the point. I would like to think that I could contribute toward a better world, but whatever I say or do is not going to make a lot of difference. Call me a quitter?, Ok. I'm tired and find it hard to sort out the bull$hit. I really don't know why I have even bothered, because the truth will never be known. I guess that is what the Buddhist mean when they say, " He who speaks does not know, and he who knows does not speak." Should have payed more attention to that a long time ago. There is much beauty in the world (just watched Shania Twain at halftime in the Supperbowl, love that Gal) and it is mostly found in nature, soooo, I'm looking forward to my longtime plan of a mobile home by a nice lake up north and doing the best for me and my family. In closing, I would like to quote a wise fellow by the name of Dan Millman who said, "There is no way to peace, peace is the way, there is no way to love, love is the way, there is no way to happiness, happiness is the way." For what it's worth, I have to say that Blix's report today provides a watershed in the Iraq saga. washingtonpost.com In my opinion, there's enough evidence of a "material breach" and thus justification for an immediate US attack. Accordingly, if they don't attack now and be done with it, Saddam wins by default. Thus the US has to "put up" ASAP or shut up. It's also my opinion that now is as good a time to do it as any other because no matter how long the inspectors get to find all the outstanding evidence, they won't. Nonetheless, because France, Russia and China will continue to argue for a peaceful resolution for as long as the inspections continue, or even longer, it is unlikely there will ever be Security Council approval for a war. This is not to say that I am in favor of war, only that I recognize the exigency of the moment in terms of the US' stated position and agenda.
