I would like to revisit this post after the war is over.

My guess is that things will be quite different from what you think will happen. The US will use sophisticated weapons with pinpoint accuracy to "shock and awe" the Iraqi Armed Forces into a quick surrender. The road from Qatar or Kuwait to Baghdad will be a straight one which should take not much longer than 5-7 days to travel.

The regular Iraqi armed forces will lay down their arms while the Republican Guards will fire off a few ineffectual shots. The Special Republican Guards will put a bit more resistance, but will be easily overwhelmed as they know that they will be shot as war criminals should they use any of Saddam's WMDs.

There should be no huge civilian Iraqi casualties. The only substantial number of civilians at risk are Israeli citizens who may feel the effect of Saddam's WMDs should he decide to go to his death in a final cataclysmic spasm of violence.
