Dow 5000 is not that outlandish. How many people thought
that the NASDAQ would hit the low 1000's in 2000. If
the Dow and the S&P 500 were to replicate NASDAQ's performance 5000 doesn't seem that far fetched at all.
Remember the bear's job is to keep most people on board as it keeps going down a function it has performed admirably
what with over 50 % of US households still in equities after
3 years of a declining market. I have a feeling that is
going to change this year as the realisation that they are never going to get out even sinks in with the vast majority
of the public and they finally call their brokers to
"sell everything".
