I actually don't put as much weight into maxpain and p/c levels as I used to. Maxpain for me is a good gauge of which direction the pressure may come from and the p/c ratio can be a good indication of public sentiment. But there is a lot of stuff going on with OTC options that you and I will never see, that can greatly skew what is really going on with hedging (or the need for hedging)
