My point is that, contrary to media spoof, Bush doesn't see eye to eye with Sharon and his Likud freaks on the Mideast/Palestine crisis... I'm currently reading Alistair Horne's excellent book on the French-Algerian war (1954-1962) and I'm aghast at the similarities between the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the independence struggle of Algeria. Just as the so-called pieds noirs (French settlers in Algeria) eventually imported their desperate fight (against the FLN) into metropolitan France (OAS and the Generals' putsch), today, Zionist fanatics resort to a similar blackmail towards the US. There're significant differences though: Algeria was a French colony/territory whereas Israel is a sovereign country. Moreover, the French settlers didn't have nuclear missiles at their disposal....
