The article you posted stated that McData will lower their software management product to $125/port. I like the idea that Brocade will be able to sell their new product(s) into HWP SAN systems and may have a chance to receive a software license fee for each port sold at $125/port or less.

Look's like to me that Brocade has the chance to create a significant software revenue stream based on their relationship with HWP and their huge installed customer base. Let's hope that between HWP and Brocade/Rhapsody they can create a SAN software management suite that will lite up the market, compete head to head with IBM/Tivoli, Veritas and McData.

What's you experience with HWP's software products and their development time to market. Do you think a HWP/Brocade software product could leap frog the industry?

If so, the long term potential looks pretty good based on the current valuation.

Their are rumors that HWP may even be a possible buy out candidate for Brocade but I suspect HWP will wait to see the results of their partnership before any offers are made.
