Georege: Thanks to the internet and the individuals and institutions that make it so valuable, we now have accessible material. The best way to start is on a small issue. Maybe a city or a regiment. That will lead you further and further into it. You can get totally lost in it. The official records will always provide an opportunity to do some basic research. From there, you will find personal accounts. Then you have newspapers with differing viewpoints. It is endless but a trip into the most important event in our nation's history.
