Scala is expanding its relationship with Infonet to create one streamlined global network solution that integrates existing applications, while providing an infrastructure for future multimedia opportunities, such as video. According to the contract, Infonet will connect a minimum of eight Scala sites worldwide, including their headquarters in Amsterdam and their main research and development factory in Moscow. Scala develops collaborative ERP software for multinational enterprises. Scala's award-winning software is installed in more than 7,500 locations in over 140 countries worldwide. "With representatives in 96 countries, we were looking for a supplier to integrate and prioritise applications and optimise capacity based on our business objectives. Infonet produced a solution that optimised our bandwidth requirements, making the overall Scala network more efficient and directly supportive of our need to rapidly expand to new regions," said Bob Nicoson, Chief Resource Officer at Scala. In order to properly address projected global communication requirements, Scala needed to migrate their whole wide area network (WAN) before the network closed down in March of last year. When Scala's previous communications provider was facing financial problems and a potential shutdown, Scala contacted Infonet and several other major global suppliers to initiate a six-month RFP process.
