9:36 (Dow Jones) In his first public appearance, Treasury Secretary nominee
John Snow comes out to clearly squash speculation he might alter the
administration's stance on the dollar. "There has been a consistent policy
going back a decade which I support," Snow said in remarks prepared for his
confirmation hearings. "I favor a strong dollar. A strong dollar is in the
national interest." This is about as clear as he could be and should give some
support to the USD. (GMM)
