BWAC-- Sorry, you're right.

I do think he was singularly successful in getting the inspectors in Iraq. However, what remains to be seen is whether the cost of alienating the world is worth it.

Nevertheless, most of the world, especially the french, would be perfectly content to let Saddam violate his agreement with the UN.

Also-- Zonder--Why doesn't the accusation of OIL explain the french reluctance to tilt Iraq. Perhaps, having Elf Aquitaine have a lucrative contract may explain why they are slowing things down. Of course, I'm being cynical. The french have always taken the high moral ground. Sure.., especially when they killed a half million in Algeria.

Continuing-- Notice the french are getting their embassies burned in the Ivory Coast. That is simply because being a policeman is difficult. Yet the world requires the USA to be the policeman and be loved.
