I think we will have bears still looking for a washout capitulation even with the market up 50% from a bottom and we will only know it happened long afterwards.

It also works in reverse. If the market falls another 50%, we will still have many Bears saying that that does not represent capitulation. No matter how far the market falls, it never seems to be enough.....like a replay of March 2000, only in the other direction.

You are so right... I have been unsuccessful trying to make this point with anyone on SI, nonetheless I know it to be true. You can't have a major capitulation event with 2-5% of the funds that existed previously.
