The europeans knowing the drop dead date for US attack and knowing the Butler principle involved may actually be running cover for us so that when we go, we will have another 15-0 vote or one with an abstention or two.


I agree that the UNSC will back the US in the end. The noise is all sound and fury signifying 'horse trading'. France has a veto, which means big leverage. It does not mean moral superiority or clearer thinking. The funnier argument is that the Gulf countries don't support the war. They cannot support the war until they know it is about to start. Once they are convinced that the Americans are serious, they will line up behind Bush. I don't think the people in Riyadh are happy with the Blix report.
