>>>Re; I hope the rumoured 400 cruise missile a day plan is not going to unfold<<<

It may unfold, but what will certainly happen is every B-52 still able to go aloft will converge upon Iraq at a set time and drop their loads of smart bombs from extremely high altitude. These are the 'fire and forget' type of bombs targeted by GPS rather than homing in on a laser designator.

Imagine several thousand strategic & tactical targets being hit almost simultaneously. All their command & control, logistics, communications, etc. will be taken out very quickly.

The relatively few key deep underground targets not suitable for that type of attack will get 2,000# ground penetrators from stealth fighters.

This will make life extremely difficult for the BDA (bomb damage assessment) guys.

Cruise missiles are frightfully expensive, can you imagine the tab for a several day salvo at 400 per?
