Windsock,

Here is the same problem Intel has.

news.com.com

Microsoft has dropped the code name of its controversial security technology, Palladium, in favor of this buzzword-bloated tongue twister: "next-generation secure computing base."

I have said if Intel worried more about Intel instead of AMD, they would be a lot better off. Consequently, if Microsoft would just fix their problems, things would be a lot better.

Steve

All major OSes today have security flaws. As someone interested in crypto and security for many years (since 1987), I follow these things pretty closely.

What bugs me is the silly "trash-talking" which goes on between advocates/zealots of Windows, Linux, Sun/BSD, and Macintosh. Every week or so I get a "nyah nyah nyah!" article forwarded to me from an advocate of Windows over Sun, or Mac over Windows, or Sun/BSD over Linux. Not surprisingly, the very same person who forwarded to me (and a bunch of other people) a report on Sun's security problem of a few weeks ago has been conspicuously quiet about the latest and far more significant SQL Slammer worm.

Since I am not interested in spending my finite moments sending trash talk back out to those who zealously denounce Vendor A in favor of Vendor B, I've instead asked them not to send me any more of this trash talk about how "my team is better than your team!!" silliness.
