History repeats -- I have been reading Rothbard's book on Money and Banking and how the Cartels pushed imperialism as the way out of economic doldrums. I think Rothbard is on to something -- that these imperialistic urges flow in part to inflationary economic policies. At some pt those supporting these inflationary policies realized that they hit a "wall." Imperialism was something that was appealing after that wall had been hit.
