Aye, but on seeing the French post in front of him, Patty mistook it for the very gates of hell. He approached and dismounted with caution. He assumed the burley fellow inside would be determining his punishment. Patty intended to be agreeable. The trader brought forward the ugliest female creature Patty had ever seen. The demon assigned to torture him for all eternity thought Patty. Frenchi assumed Patty intended a trade for the Arabian standing outside. Frenchi's daughter began yammering in a native language mixed with broken French, neither of which Patty had the slightest clue about. She would go on like this incessantly, as the trader continued in negotiations. As Patty hung his head in disgrace, the man brought forward several months supplies, a mule to carry it on, and traps. Finally he stopped and waited for a response. Patty nodded thinking his fate had been sealed. As he walked out and mounted the Arabian, Frenchi began screaming that he would be whipped and hung for thievery. The ugly sap of a daughter climbed on her father's prize, high strung bay and raced after Patty screaming with excitement in pursuit of her groom. Patty raced on assuming the torments of hell were now on his heals.
