On the AIDS in Africa issue, a part of my response to Bush grew from having spent a bit of time during the preceding afternoon reading Michael Specter's piece in this week's New Yorker on the issue of a vaccine in Africa for AIDS and the ethical issues testing such raises. It's a painful, profoundly so, essay. Highly recommended. Unfortunately, it's not linked. But well worth the price of the issue. Or a trip to your favorite place to read magazines, perhaps the library.
