So what's to explain? Up until Emperor George II set the wheels in motion after 9/11, Hussein was very tidily bottled up in Mesopotamia. He was no threat to his neighbors, was basically gelded with regard to his Kurdish and Shiite minorities and was minding his own business. That status quo was working for everybody except the greedheads in the Bush Maladministration who lust in their hearts of the profits to be accrued from the theft of the crude.
