Lay may really be technically innocent of any wrong doing- I think he failed to mind the store and trusted others to do it. He ran that show. Of course he knew. We even have the memo that slimeball Sherren Watkins sent him months before the implosion listing the problems with Enron. He thought he could get away with murder forever and he would have had his greed not gotten the better of him and his corrupt company.
