I've got a POS that can't get shares half the time when I wanna short, but they are really good otherwise -- very cheap -- reporting sucks -- you can download transaction, but there is no segregation of longs and shorts. Scottrade. These guys have been very good about margin calls, though, if you like to "live on the edge"

I'm using Brown. I have IRA there, so no margin is available to me. They recently made available research from JPM. I like it. I'm mostly using InteractiveBrokers. Low commish, but no paper statements. I also have Ameritrade. Statement doesn't have gain/loss calculations. Hope this helps.

you can buy Canadian stocks (broker assisted) through lowtrades for $25 per order with a limit of up to 250,000 shares per order. Online orders for USA stocks are $5 per trade, broker assisted trades are again $25.

They don't have the good documentation that you want, but i just thought i'd mention them.
