Lindy, Iridium is the official USA military satellite phone for personal carting around. It's not as good as Globalstar, but they own a chunk of it.

Personally, I think they have selected the wrong technology and will change when Globalstar is properly up and running [without the bankruptcy mess hanging around it]. They'll use both actually, because Iridium gives complete coverage, whereas Globalstar only covers the yellow area globalstar.com and gateways can be regionally vulnerable. There isn't a lot of redundancy at present.

Globalstar has the cyberspace technological trajectory to the future. Iridium is obsolete. Globalstar will be able to deliver high speed cyberspace, not just phone calls, to anywhere, when the next constellations are launched.
