OK..... Look around the Middle East. Pick a country were democracy could work.

Turkey..., Iraq, Iran, and possibly Jordan (as a democratic monarchy).. Egypt could as well.. And Lebanon is a fragile pseudo-democracy under subjugation by Syria and Iran.

Iraq and Syria could potentially be easiest to mold since they are both secular societies, not particularly zealous with regard to religious militantcy.

Democracy takes time to form. And it won't be easy.. But it has to start somewhere..

It took well over 100 years to mature in this country, making the transition from where only landed white property owners had the vote, to the point where they are now trying to permit non-US citizens to vote in DC elections..

Thus, I won't be able to show you a "true" democracy of any sort for many years. But I bet you, with the proper coaching and nurturing, in 10-20 years we'll see a region that is vastly better off economically and socially than it is now..
