A court in northern Jordan has ordered a Christian widow to jail for 30 days if she refuses to hand over her two minor children to be raised as Muslims, reports news service Compass Direct.

According to the report, a warrant for Siham Qandah's arrest was issued Jan. 16. On Jan. 20, she was informed by phone that she was to surrender custody of her daughter Rawan, 14, and son Fadi, 12, to their court-appointed Muslim guardian.

Jordan claims that before his death several years ago, Qandah's Christian husband secretly converted to Islam, making his children Muslims under Jordanian law.

The Compass Direct report indicates Qandah has been negotiating with officials for several months on the custody matter and had been assured three months ago that a solution would be found for her to retain custody of her children, who have been raised as Christians.

"Siham was told [in October] to go back to her home, put her children in school again and relax, because no one would be allowed to touch her," a close friend told Compass Direct.

According to a close relative, the Qandah children are "living from house to house. … It would be very dangerous for them to stay at home. And if the police find their mother, they may take her to prison."

An appeal filed by the mother's attorney buys her some time, but one of her brothers told Compass Direct that the delay may be "only for one week, or at most two weeks. So we don't know what will happen then."

According to the report, Qandah has a brother in Illinois who has offered full support for her and her children if they are allowed to leave Jordan.

"Despite all this, the Lord has put a peace into her heart," one of Qandah's friends told Compass Direct last week.

<<Why motivates you to write such lies?>>

I guess you've never heard of Israel's Shinui party (they did fairly well in the recent election). Here is what they stand for:

"Shinui is fighting against religious coercion, against the attempts of rabbis to turn Israel into a Halachic State, against the corruption of the ultra-orthodox and against the evasion of army service. We uphold the concept of an enlightened liberal society, in which every citizen can enjoy not only freedom of religion, but also freedom from religion."

Or perhaps the IRAC (http://www.irac.org/index_e.asp) a human rights organization fighting against theocracy in Israeli government.

<<The ultimate hatred in the world today is Talmudic Judaism.>>

Poor Emile, i realize you're just doing your Christian duty as explained by Chrysostom:

The Jews "are inveterate murderers, destroyers, men possessed by the devil . . . debauchery and drunkenness have given them the manners of pigs and lusty goats. They know only one thing, to satisfy their gullets, get drunk, to kill and maim one another. They murder their offspring and immolate them to the devil . . . .The Jewish disease must be guarded against. The Christian's duty is to hate the Jews."

I'd think a moral man would condemn such hate speech whether he found it in the Talmud or in the sermons and writings of the Church Fathers.

What kind of man are you Emile?

Steve
