That's an approach that has been working well for me. Pick your entry point and place your orders and they usually get filled at the close. I had thought it might be day traders that are unloading their positions at the end of the day, but I guess it could also be shorts.

this intraday effect comes and goes
it is the norm, from what I have seen in past several months
but for a few weeks in summer, gold rose all day long
for a few weeks in December, gold rose all day long

when things get a little overbought, back comes that intraday norm
