You are assuming that the terrorists won't win. That won't. Unless we decide to put our heads in the sand and ignore the threat.. Listen Robert... My thesis remains that the Muslim world is facing a demographic baby boom which is creating economic and social pressures that these corrupt non-democratic nations can not cope with. 50% of the Saudi population is under the age of 18 RIGHT NOW, which means that in the near future they will be seeking jobs, spouses, or lacking those, some other meaning for their lives. We can ignore this reality, or we can face. If we ignore it, then the militants will gain further power in the wake of the economic and political turmoil that will only increase in coming years. It will increase to the point where we will find ourselves expending even more blood and treasure trying to deal with it.. But if we face, we stand a good chance of "nipping it in the bud" and giving the demographic trend a positive direction. One only has to look at the economic and social impact the US baby boom generation has had on our society. Now they are moving into retirement as the muslim world moves into their own version of what we went through during the '60s and '70s. That's my view of this... We have no choice except engaging or disengaging (and leaving it to the Europeans, Russians, Indians, and Chinese to deal with). And if we choose to engage, it must NOT be only half-hearted. It must be a Marshall Plan style operation. Hawk
