"less than flattering opinions on all manner of things American?"

I do not hold a less than flattering opinion on all things American. I hold a contrary opinion on the wisdom and need for a unilateral invasion of Iraq. We ARE threatened by the issue of WMDs in this world and we must do something about it -- I have no doubt about that, even if there is zero credible intelligence that he is anywhere near to having nuclear capability. Nuclear proliferation is the most serious issue but bio-weapns are coming to the fore (and this is where Saddam MIGHT have some limited capability)-- no doubts there. And Saddam is as bad an actor as you will find anywhere -- no dispute. I have never challenged the policy of disarming Iraq. Not once. What I dispute is the policy of unilateral regime change because I think it is a very unwise policy precisely because of the issues it raises about who we are and what we stand for. Disarming Iraq can be done -- nobody doubts that. The question is who are we and what do we stand for? Unilateral regime change significantly lowers our moral standing and moral authority in the world when we have done nothing to establish the existence of a credible threat to the US. Unilateral regime change reduces our security by creating an environment best suited to fueling a new generation of terrorists. And it gives comfort to countries that would dearly like to launch wars of their own -- notably India and Pakistan (a country that harbors terrorists that attack India almost daily).

>>a dissenting viewpoint?

Distorted. Like his tortured misquote from the State of the Union.
