The markup is extreme , but having the connections is also a must. It seems not just anybody can get into the biz. -- An old friend of mine passed on several years ago, and left his wife a few raw diamonds. He was a sort of Amateur prospector who used his vacations to roam around the country. Gold was his main aim. Before he died he told me his one regret was that he didn't quit his regular job and do it full time. He gave me an old map of his best gold find but I never followed up on it. He was able to sell the gold easy enough but could never get an offer for the diamonds close to what he thought they should bring. Jim
