Perhaps you thought were referring about the rising danger China poses. China may be a problem in the coming decades. The country is still ruled by a "Communist" party but no one there believes in Communism any more. So in the absence of democracy to assess the people's will, what is the CP's basis of legitimacy? Well, the promise that they grow the economy and bring greater prosperity. But there is also the temptation the "Communist" regime will try to stir up nationalist feelings against foreign enemies to build support among the public. Let's face it, we - the US - are the prime candidates for the starring role as foreign enemy. We should hope and pray that democracy takes root on the mainland asap. As democratic nations rarely (perhaps never) go to war with each other.

There was a stray bomb that went off in the Bosnia-Serbian exercise that struck a Chinese delegation killing and wounding some Chinese? The public reaction there was swift , ferociously anti-American as the propagandized demonstrators took to the streets in outrage against us.

Anyone who doesn't see the potential threat the communist clique in China poses and has posed , and their aggression , is not looking ahead (or behind).

By all means let's democratize them too...but one nation at a time though .

nice post.

OT : doing a search for Kentucky Fried Chicken , found that incident of "Nato's" accidental bombing of China's embassy in Yugoslavia in 1999...and the rampaging wonton destruction of angry mobs of protestors , demolishing statues of the poor Colonel Sanders himself being obvious targets and accessable.

Imagine that !

Often fascinated with everything American , this incident occurred back during the WTO talks and negotiations ...and the hardliners weren't happy with the concessions Zhu Rongi had offered the US :

Always thought the Colonel's "recipie" would fair better
than MCD's ...I wonder how they're doing today ?

funny world ...thank god the cows and chickens slaughter easily.
