Dave,

Shucks, your spitting on the coach. Don't spit on the coach. We like the coach. We win cause he's a good coach. Geez, everybody knows how run a good forum but nobody seems to be doing it.

Paul

Hello Dave Ellen;

With all due respect to you,

Which appears to be approaching zero...

You have ignored one little thing: my posts, by definition, are never thread bloat.

You may not like this, but it is a fact. If I think a little humor is needed to grease the wheels, I try to give it and promote it. If I think someone needs/deserves a little pat on the back. I give it. If I think someone is getting overbearing <g> , I try and defuse them, first with humor, then with whatever is required. If someone is blathering on and on and on and driving everybody nuts, I'll stop them. If I wish to tell my friends here, about the latest cool thing I am reading in genetics or programming, this is my place to talk and I shall. I think that it is valuable for people to "know" me as I am, and know that I am usually "around", and know that they can count on me to provide a mature, well-behaved, and well-focused forum for their inquiries and commentary. I appreciate everyone's efforts and I try to keep the 'noise' level down so lurkers will want to visit and read these great commentaries. My notes are aimed to promote collegiality and inquiry (not preaching!) on this thread.

Posters vote with their feet, and 70K posts indicate something seems to be working. You even get to vote! :o)

Best regards,
--fl@pollingplace.com

EDIT: If 40 posters write "thanks" or similar comments in a day, we are looking at another 40-150 posts a day of, essentially, nada. There are a lot of 'you'ns' and only one of me'ns. :o)
