It's remarkably undiplomatic. I'm wondering if fallout from the Iraq affair will be serious UN reform.

Did someone say "paradigm shift"?

The structure of relationships in Europe has been revealed a bit in this process. I think that the structure of relationships in the Middle East will be similarily clarified over this coming year. A similar process is underway in Asia as well but I don't grok Asia well enough to know what may happen.

I think we may see the more formal block-type structures emerge. The Asian-block, the Gulf-block, the Sub-Sarahan Africa-block, the NATO block (?), etc. The UN may start to look like a 'federation of blocks' rather than a collection of small but equal members.

Just wild speculation though.

Paul

We are watching the manner in which the world's affairs are conducted changing before our very eyes. The UN's role may get re-defined as part of this process.
