Intel recently disclosed the portion of its option grants that are granted to executives. If I recall correctly the executive options were less than 5% of the total. This percentage is lower than for most companies.

The trouble arises when you consider the Intel option grants for the last 5 years or so. Virtually all of those grants are under water.

Another factor is that more than 50% of Intel employees have been at Intel for 5 years or less. Not long ago, I heard the number was 60 couple %. All of these Intel employees would of course be quite disapointed that all of their options are under water. Of course all the last 5 year options for officers would also be under water.

But it must be bitter medicine to see officers profiting from 10 year old options when the 5year or less group sees no profit in their option portfolio.
