JJ, I dont disagree. Thats why there needs to be liberalization and reconstruction as well. Leaving things as they are is potentially more dangerous. And the 0.1% fringe elements you mention cannot be successful terrorists with global reach if their source of funds and support among the elites is eliminated. Boy this stuff is hard. I try to imagine the world in 2010 and then prey policies i support here will make the world better then. For 2003, we certainly put ourselves in harms way by taking action. I think we are all hoping to have that beer together in 2010 in a far more peaceful world. mike

They can hide in any country on the world. The bigger the local Muslim population, the easier it is for them to hide. They have a terrible time hiding here. Much easier in Europe. They may be able to recruit some non-ethnic leftists to their cause, but will have a tough time convincing them to commit suicide. Taken to the extreme the USA would have to install a military dictatorship all over the world to control terrorist movement. Naah. This is a "Police" activity. And one thing the Western countries have learned how to do is run a good Police operation. "Interpol" and the FBI are working away at it as we speak. We will be in a "Find, Arrest, and Incarcerate," operation on these people forever. It will become another normal police function like arresting Bankrobbers. We have so much "Chicken Little" posting here about the terrible consequences of invading Iraq that the positive side gets lost. The positive, (to us) side of the Iraq invasion will be the enormous psychological effect on the people of the Middle East. I think any "Arab Street" reaction, once the hollering and screaming get over with, will be to go along with us. Take a look at the young people over there. They are wearing our cloths, buying our music, and eating our food at the same time that the Media is reporting they hate us. They are getting "Americanized" whither they like it or not.
