No one is disputing that Iraq oil belongs to the Iraqi people

I appreciate you saying that, but two days ago, in Wall Street Journal, I saw an article discussing how legal it would be for the US to take over the oil fields.

I wish I had online subscription to copy and post the article, but it went something like, "If we can show the invasion as 'right', we can get away with it. And we can definitely pay for the cost of the invasion with the oil".

We are disputing whether it should be allowed to fund Saddam

Are you under the impression that the oil IS funding Saddam now? I thought there were sanctions in place and that they could only sell a small fraction of their capacity - not funding anything.

Besides, it really doesn't cost much to put together some of the WMDs.

whether Saddam should be allowed control over the oil fields of his neighbors

Is that a rhetorical question? Of course not and I don't see him getting a control over oil fields of his neighbours. Is this prescience or paranoia?
