Here is the official casualties for the USA in the Gulf War: 148 killed in action, 458 wounded. So you can figure you had no "Crippled maimed" American Soldiers in German Hospitals. Any seriously hurt out of the 458 ended up in the States. Any tactical nukes would be an underground blast if they were after Saddams bunker, which is the only practical use I could imagine for Nukes in Iraq. The "Scare" stories about our invasion of Iraq won't hold up. Remember, the same scare stories were bruited about before we went into Afghanistan. You posted earlier about how we needed to spend Billions in aid for Afghanistan. We would do more for the country if we did not spend a dime. History shows that the resurgence of a country after war has to come internally. Germany got back on its feet when your Minister of Finance reformed the currency and set the Banking system up in such a way that it produced stability. Then Germany took off. Japan "Bootstrapped" its way into prosperity. Taiwan could not get going until it got off our Foreign Aid "Dole" and was forced to open up its economy after Nixon recognized China. We have poured Billions down the Africa and South America "Ratholes" and what good has it done for them? The two Billion a year poured into Egypt has produced nothing but Swiss bank accounts as far as I can tell. Israel's two Billion a year fattens our Defense Industry and keeps them from getting rid of their Socialist economy. And don't give the "The Marshal Plan!" When we got through patting ourselves on the back and took a revisionist look at the results, it turns out Europe got prosperous in spite of it. We did a damn good job of feeding the starving right after the war, but that was it. Afghanistan, and Iraq, will become prosperous if the people there make it so. We can help provide stability, but they have to do the "Heavy Lifting."
