Not sure if you are implying incompetence on the part of the US military or something more insidious.

It was the visualization of a worst-case scenario which is not completely unlikely in the age of "overwhelming force" and "pre-emptive strike" doctrines. The degree of sarcasm is comparable to remarks that Europeans are "inviting" terror attacks with their alleged weakness.

Some of us have family and friends there now and/or probably on the way.

For all of them and all Iraqi civilians not related to the Saddam regime I hope that there will be a more intelligent way to solve the conflict than start a war. Bribe Saddam, hijack him - whatever.
