The Kochs, Carlyle Group, Bectel and formerly Brown-Root are those private mega-companies which have undo influence over public and international policy and politicians through usually undetectable contributions from indirect sources. They actively work to subvert the laws of fair play and often get the sweetheart deals with the government no one else can get. They do this through undo political influence. Because they do not have to report to the SEC no one really knows what goes on there. But reportedly George Schultz of Bectel was the one who first approached GW to run for Governor, when he was still an alcoholic. Halliburton bought Brown-Root which build the infrastruacture for the Vietnam War. Bectel builds huge construction projects which are helped along by people at the top of our government. carlyle Group is the new former Reagan-Bush private group which is making money hand over fist in the middle of a recession. They have enormous influence in defense and oil matters. James Baker and Frank carlucci are Carlyle's leaders. Bush Sr. is a shadow partner. He took his name off the list after 9-11 as the Bin Lauden family was also an investor and Bush Sr. had once flown on their private jet to Saudi Arabia. GW too was once a Carlyle member and received a nice paycheck for doing very little. John Major is their man in the UK. Just as Halliburton did business with Iraq in the 90's under Cheney, these groups are generally above the law, or consider themselves so. They are also nkown to work hand in hand with the CIA in certain situations. They are all very close to Bush. These groups represent what Eisenhower warned us about the secret power of "the military-industrial complex". Beware of their power, folks. Enron had nothing on these guys. PS - Maybe you can add Kissinger Group to this list as well, the super lobbyists between governments and big business cutting out the middleman, that is public laws and policy.
