Robert, I read your post. I agree with most of what you say and also agree with Carl's and Jim's issues (although they fail to realize this), but the reality is that these companies need to offer competitive compensation. If they don't then they will lose the people they want to retain. The laws are going to have to be changed before the companies can do anything about it. I don't agree with your stability argument. Most people that hold these jobs don't care about stability and their egos won't let them work for a non-competitive comp package.
