My bet is that he goes the way of the dodo bird Donahue, whose show was reputedly cancelled for Donaldson. My wife makes me leave the room to watch Matthews -- he is so adamant that Bush is just a warmonger. OTOH, last night he had on Hitchens, who I don't always agree with, but generally find to be one of the brightest individuals around. Even Matthews, in all his shrillness, had a pretty tough time shouting Hitchens down. I hope you're right about Donahue ... while Donaldson wouldn't be my choice, it is undoubtedly a step in the right direction.
