I think the Media is in real trouble, long term, if they continue to oppose the people this much.

Just a wonderful throwaway line. "Oppose the people" is supposed to be my kind of line. You're not even close to having Bush speak for "the people." "The people" are all over the lot; adamantly on both sides of the fence, confused in the middle; what not.

I still contend it's all too shallow. It will take some defining moments, as the cliche goes, to harden public opinion. And we are a very long way from those. Powell won't produce one of those; nor will Bush's next speech. Another terrorist attack on US soil; a difficult time in Iraq (I don't think a walk in the park will, incidentally, move the numbers all that much, since I think that's what's generally expected), those are defining.
