One of the changes scheduled for the end of this quarter was to shift Compaq's recognition of sales from when it leaves the dock to match HP's recognition when the buyer receives it. Of course this is not specifically related to consumer products.

The State of the Union speech certainly fed the likelihood of war but its effect will take a few days or weeks to percolate through the public's awareness and the market. Aside from the uncertainty, people become fascinated by the events and remained glued to the tube, stop shopping and cause a temporary drop in sales and a build up of inventories. HP has exposure both through computers and printers, but how could Lexmark not be hard hit if this is the case?
