Geo-politically, I mean what does van der Rohe's architecture have to do with Foreign Affairs, but your point is well taken. Europe has and has had some great minds in art and some sciences.

I mean Europe did invent the Pogrom, the Holocaust, WWI, WWII, Communism, Fascism, the Berlin Wall, Eastern and Western Europe, among others.

Now before we talk about the benefits of the EU, two points:

1. It is a poor copy of a system of states that works, the USA.

2. It is just in its infancy. Some are wondering if the EU will survive the Old Europe vs. USA thing or not.

Jean Renoir, Marcel Ophuls, Federico Fellini, Alfred Hitchcock,

And all we have is "Hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet." Yep, they have Classical music, we have "Gangsta Rap." (Boo!) They have the "Impressionists," we have "Pop Art." But, on the other hand we have Jazz and Lindy Hop. They will never match those two 20th Century Arts!
