And just what job of his was it to look for Al Qaeda links?

If I recall their job description correctly, the job of the inspectors was not to look for weapons (it's silly to think that 100 inspectors could examine every possible hiding place in a country the size of Texas when the nation has been given years to hide things; heck, 20 cops can't even find all the meth labs on this island), but to verify whether the weapons programs which Saddam admitted in the 1998 and 1999 reports to having have been fully accounted for.

But they don't seem to be doing that. Instead, they seem to have taken on the role of Iraqui PR men.

There's a reason why Saddam wanted Blix as the head of the inspection team, and it ain't a pretty reason.
