Ted, Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California owns an SUV, but supports legislation to tighten SUV fuel economy standards:

Here's the absurd part of her position (the end of the article):

Feinstein said she, like many light truck owners, want better options.

"We're prepared to have a lighter vehicle, a better designed vehicle," she said. "I want to reform. Give me a choice to reform and I will."

Guess no one told her about the more fuel-efficient SUVs that are available for her to choose (earlier in the article):

"We offer more than 30 different models that get 30 miles-per-gallon or better. They sit on dealer lots unsold," said Eron Shosteck, spokesman for the carmakers' industry group. When it comes to cars that get better mileage, he said, "It's not like the movie 'Field of Dreams' -- if you build it, they will come."
